Welcome to Canadian International School Tokyo (CIS). The education provided by CIS ensures that all students are provided with the best opportunity to learn and instruction using the most current, effective strategies.
Both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) provide external feedback for educators at CIS Tokyo. Each organization requires that a set of enriched educational and governance standards are achieved. Schools holding these accreditations provide an international education of the highest quality.
Education today is more personalized and student centered. Students must have the opportunity to learn and to show what they have learned in different ways. The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a concept driven curriculum which provides opportunity for students to ask their own questions, inquire, explore and celebrate their personal successes. A planned approach to the development of student attitudes further helps to support individualized learning.
During the 2017/18 school year the development of teaching and learning at CIS Tokyo will continue. Our Canadian curriculum reinforced by international standards, will ensure that our school continues to provide enrichment for all students, a nurturing environment and the development of an understanding of global citizenship. All initiatives whether classroom or school wide will focus on student learning and enjoyment of education.
At CIS students feel safe, not only physically safe but safe enough to express their ideas, to consider, to reflect, to care, to suggest and to congratulate. In this environment, the personality of every student can develop, and grow resulting in well-adjusted adolescents and adults. We will work together to ensure that this amazing community of learners provides a supportive learning environment for all students.
