Employment Information

Full time teachers

  • All teaching positions for the 2011-12 school year have been filled; thank you to everyone who applied.
  • Applications for the 2012-13 school year will be advertised in March 2012.
  • Due to the volume of unsolicited applications received, an automatic response will be e-mailed, acknowledging receipt of your application.
  • Applicants for all teaching vacancies must be eligible for certification in Canada and therefore will be required to show proof of each of the following:
    1. A four-year degree transcript from a recognized university AND
    2. A teaching qualification (B Ed, Dip Ed, PGCE or equivalent)
    3. Current membership of a provincial college of teachers (Canada) OR A current license to teach from a jurisdiction in their own country
  • Applications should include:
    1.A cover letter, stating which position you are applying for and why you feel you are suitable for that position
    2.A one or two page resume with full details of your educational qualifications, teaching experience and the names and e-mail contacts of three references, one of whom must be your current employer.
    3.If you are registered with a recruitment agency, such as Search Associates, please include that information.
  • Suitable applicants will be contacted by e-mail to set up an initial interview with the principal on Skype.

Substitute Teachers

  • CIS always has need of substitute teachers to cover classes while the regular teacher is at a professional development workshop, or absent due to illness. If you live in the Tokyo area and have teaching experience and would like to be placed on the school's substitute teacher list, please contact the principal. You should send a cover letter and a brief resume showing your education and teaching experience, as well as the names and e-mail contacts of three references.
