Guidance
CIS Counseling Mission Statemen
The purpose of the Canadian International School guidance department is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that includes personal/social, career and academic counseling to all students. This approach provides sequential and age appropriate development standards that are in accordance with the PEI (Prince Edward Island) and ASCA (American School Counseling Association) guidelines.
The counselor strives to meet the developmental needs of all students and respond to the special cultural and social needs and interests of individual students. Counseling students, consulting with staff, parents and integrating the school's guidance program into the instructional program are among the primary responsibilities of the guidance counselor.
The guidance program works in conjunction with other school personnel, programs and community resources. Parents and the Canadian International School community are kept informed of programs and are encouraged to participate in the development of students.

- Response Services - Students may need to meet with the counselor in response to an immediate need or concern. These services may take the form of individual counseling, crisis team, conflict resolution, short-term counseling, group counseling, referrals, and consultation.
