CIS Extracurricular Program

CIS is a member of the International Schools Tokyo Athletic Association (ISTAA) and in that capacity participates in annual international school tournaments for soccer, basketball, volleyball and other sports. Students who participate in these school team activities represent CIS at many international school athletic events.

In addition to school team organization CIS offers a full curricular and extracurricular PE and athletic program. PE classes taught by specialist teachers are core curriculum for all students from grades kindergarten to nine and are available as optional credit courses for grades 10-12 students. Also an extracurricular intramural program includes floor hockey, soccer camp, ping pong, badminton, karate, dance, running and numerous other athletic activities. Also there are athletic clubs for younger students such as the hula-hoop club, athletic games club, and dodge ball.

The extracurricular program also provides for after school activities such as craft club, reading club, board games club, chess club, French club, school student newspaper, student council, school yearbook club, science club, digital photography club, tea ceremony and Scholastic book club.

Students may select to join several of the scheduled after school activities during each semester. Extracurricular registration forms are provided at the beginning of each semester for parents and students.
